Sirius "CareWare" Distribution
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The current fee for commercial use is $40 per installed copy.
But I have decided NOT to charge a fixed fee for non-commercial Sirius use
now, although I hereby reserve the right to do so at some future time. It
won't be soon. Instead ...
You are on your honor to keep me informed of all Sirius copies which you
distribute (names, addresses, net/node numbers) and for informing Sirius
recipients of my distribution tracking policy.
This is NOT ShareWare. But it MIGHT be called "CareWare". That's not
"Care" as in "cares of the world" or "careworn"; think of "Care Bears"
instead.
"CareWare" is software written by those who truly care about improving the
environment which their software addresses (especially when that
environment contains critters: bears, dogs, possible puffins, meerkats).
"CareWare" should be paid for as dictated by the Golden Rule.
Thus there IS a license fee for Sirius use in a somewhat-commercial
environment. It is ... "the same as yours to me"! I.e., if you are also
a Fido-compatible software developer, then my charge to you for Sirius is
whatever YOU might otherwise charge ME for all utilities of YOURS,
collectively, which have a critter focus. If you are PURELY
NON-commercial, then SO ARE WE BOTH. We both clearly care.
The term "CareWare" is mine; Chuck Lawson calls this "reverse ShareWare"
... and other things (all positive).
On the other paw, any caring soul wishing to
* encourage Sirius' humble author to do more of the same, and
* to have HIGH PRIORITY input into the continuing development process,
and the prioritization thereof,
is QUITE welcome to send $$ this way:
